The ski area of Mt Cervino is even more exclusive; between Breuil-Cervinia, Valtournenche and Zermatt (Switzerland) there is 360 km of pistes, two nations over three valleys all connected by a modern and high-speed network of lift systems, just like that of Plateau Rosà for example permitting no boundaries skiing. This year’s news is the new runs in the ski areas of Pancheron and Cretaz; the south face of the Matterhorn overlooks this beautifully wild and panoramic zone. “Gran Roc” (run number 62 on the skirama) descends parallel to the “slow ski” run (nr 9bis) and ends up in the area of Cretaz, carry on along the legendary “5” which finishes directly in town and at the departure station of the chairlift Cretaz. The run is of intermediate level (therefore red) and can be reached by the modern 6-seater chairlift Pancheron (with protections shields too), providing another run to enjoy in the area known as the “city of rocks”, a unique area with huge boulders that rise up out of the white snow. “Vallone 5” (run number 5bis) is the name of the other new run in the ski area of Breuil-Cervinia; situated just above the number 5 in the area of Cretaz it is in a privileged position thanks to the hours of sun it gets. The drop of 300 m means that it descends gently for a relaxed skiing experience, it is also of intermediate level. It ends up in the same area, along the legendary “5” and arrival in town (and departure station of the chairlift Cretaz). Both the “Gran Roc” and “Vallone 5” runs are protected in a natural basin making the ski area ideal for those cold ski days.
